Sangre de Drago

Sangre_de_drago_tree_2Long known for its medicinal properties by the native people of Central and South America, the Sangre de Drago tree is a beautiful example of the power of Amazonian plants.  This majestic tree bleeds a dark red sap, also known as “Dragon’s Blood”, which has been used for generations as a natural healing agent for wounds, insect bites, skin conditions, and even internal medicine.  The sap of the Sangre de Drago contains powerful antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Components within Sangre de Drago are also known to help promote collagen formation and skin regeneration.  The powerful antioxidants in Sangre de Drago, combined with its natural anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antiseptic properties make it an ideal ingredient in healing and restorative formulations.  It may also be helpful in the treatment of eczema, chronically dry skin, psoriasis, acne, and other skin conditions.

Sangre de Drago Resin has a dark red color and a slightly woody and medicinal aroma.  It has a thin, watery texture and is soluble in water.  It can be used as-is or added to the water phase of lotions, creams, soaps, and salves.  Sangre de Drago may also be used to create herbal infusions and water based recipes such as sprays and rinses.  Yet another use for Sangre de Drago is that of a wetting agent for fresh masks, facials, and poultices.
